If Shorty doesn’t know it...
I have a 14’ fiberglass scow. It is old- hung in a barn for the last 30 years. It is just exposed to daylight and should clean up nicely. There is no HIN (so pre-‘72) no sail insignia, no identifying markings at all on the boat (I have searched!) and no evidence of a missing plaque or ID. It is unstayed and has a 12’ mast. Daggerboard is a little heftier than the Sunfish and the boat is wider. The closest resembling scow I’ve found is a Cub Scow or Fox Scow or Hydrostream Scow. None of these are 14’ though, and none have the storage cubby forward of the large cockpit. This may have been made by Johnson Boat Works, now owned by White Bear Boat Works, but they could not positively identify it (said possibly Cub) There were probably other ‘clones’ made of the scow design. Any thoughts on this one? I’d sure appreciate your input! Photos attached.
Thank you
Monica

Followup-
I think it’s a Sears Surfwind, but mine is 14’ (not 12) and mine has what looks like a larger sail with no insignia. There is no writing on the fore deck identifying it, doesn’t look like there ever was, and no evidence that there was ever an ID plate at the foreword cockpit. Still, the closest I’ve found to a match, for sure!
Thank you, your list was the key!

Followup 2
A mystery it remains, as I just measured again and it is 14’ 2” long, and 63” wide. So similar to the SurfWind except for length and width and my boat has no evidence of ever having the deck script (pretty cool- says George O’Day Approved) or a plate. The sail is larger than a Sunfish, and looks larger than those in online pics. A sail insignia sure would help, but this boat has none (sail seems original to boat) Maybe there was a Super SurfWind (like a Super Sunfish)!
You’re the best, Shorty- I’ve learned a lot from you! Thanks again.
